This wonderful vintage jewel, created during the 1920's by the house of Wedderien in the United States, is a quality Art-Deco offering; an iconic example of the period. Former employees of renowned Dreicer & Company assembled to form this short lived, but highly regarded firm. A large natural sapphire, carved in the foilate style of Cartier and other important jewelry houses, weighing approximately 20.00ct, sits atop a vase made of finely carved jadeite jade with small accent diamonds, adding just the perfect amount of sparkle. Total approximate diamond weight is .25ct and overall diamond quality is H color and VS2 clarity. Measures 1 3/8 inches long by 15/16 inch wide. The double pin on the reverse side assures the brooch will stay in place when worn, and the locking clasp secures it. There are no markings relevant to the metal contents, however, tests show the white metal is platinum and the gold tests as 14K. The side wall of the brooch is signed WEDDERIEN by the designer.
