This late 20th Century "Parrot on a Perch" brooch is crafted to look lifelike in 18K yellow gold, with high polish and intricately detailed satin finish plumage. It was created by an unknown, master goldsmith, based on the level of craftsmanship employed, and the quality of the stones used. There are twenty-two modern round brilliant cut diamonds set strategically into the wing feathers and into the tail feathers. Said diamonds weigh an approximate .25ct total of overall G color and VS2 clarity. Three vibrant green, natural emeralds, with a total approximate weight of .50ct in a foliate spray at the top add to the very organic feel of this jewel. The top piece has a rat-tail wire on the back from which the parrot swings. The hanging pendant can be removed and worn separately on a chain. The finishing touch is the setting of two luxurious, faceted rubies as eyes. Measures 2 3/16 inches long by 1 1/16 inches wide. 750 (designating 18K gold) and an obscure trademark are stamped on the reverse side. Gross weight 9.50 grams.
